Tom Hanks’ movie Inferno (2016) might not be his best one, but watching it has  brought me back to one of my favourite spots in Istanbul: Basilica Cistern.

It is the largest ancient cistern (rainwater reservoir) that lies underground, beneath the city of Istanbul. Even with the flickering half light down there i could see how beautiful and magnificent the structures are. What i love the most though, is its Turkish name: Yerebatan Sarayi, meaning The Sunken Palace. #mindblown
